January 8th, 2015...
I was spending the afternoon with Peyton, (my 6 1/2 year old granddaughter), when I got the call about your passing. When I told her about "Grandpa Dave" she said, "A piece of my heart is missing." I asked her if you made her laugh, she said, "No, he made me smile."
You were very special to our family. After Dad's passing, you came to offer comfort and sympathy (and for the food!). When it was time for a meal, we said, "Where is Dave?" and you would appear!
Over the past fourteen years, you have been part of almost every family gathering; picnics at Seneca Lake, family reunions, weddings, graduation parties, birthday celebrations and Saturday night dinners. Happy hour will never be the same! We will get out the cheese, crackers and shrimp and raise our glass (of scotch) to honor you, dear friend, for your service to our country, for your leadership and dedication to the Seneca Castle community, the Fire Department, and the Methodist Church, and for the love and laughter you've shared with our family, especially Mom.
We will miss you, but happy memories will make us smile and our love for you will live on in our hearts. It gives us comfort to know that you are no longer in pain but experiencing the love and joy of Heaven.
RIP Dave Galvin
