Willis K. (Bill) Brandow

GENEVA; Willis K. (Bill) Brandow, age 92 of Geneva passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016.

A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held on Thursday (Nov.17) at 2:00 p.m. in Brookside Cemetery, Snell Rd., Geneva. In lieu of calling hours, a Celebration of Bill's Life will be held later in the evening (Thursday Nov.17) at Belhurst from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.


Bill was born on September 3, 1924 in Canandaigua, the son of the late Charles H. and Doris Kinde Brandow. He grew up in Geneva, often working in his father’s shoe store. After high school, he served in the US Army from 1943-1946, stationed at Seneca Army Depot, Fort Lewis, WA and in the Philippines. After his service, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Hobart College and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Bill worked at Stern's Nursery in Geneva for many years, serving as Vice President. In 1961 he became President of a new company, Garden Galleries. The company started in Geneva, where it operated until relocating to Phelps in 1997. He served as President of Garden Galleries until retiring in 2013. His family & his company family were his continuing passions.

Bill was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Geneva. He was a dedicated reader and an avid learner of many subjects.

Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann; son, Jed (Amy) Brandow of Phelps and their children Jenna, Thomas and Andrew; son, Seth (Donna) Brandow of Romulus and their children Ross and Olivia; daughter, Holly Brandow Mullin of Geneseo and her children Rebecca and Emily Jean; brother, Robert H. of Buxton, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home.
