Geneva/South Carolina; Don K. Jones, 63 of Pickens, SC formerly of Geneva passed away Monday January 31, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday (Feb 3) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Members of the American Legion will meet at 6:30 and members of the Nester Hose Company will meet at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (Feb 4) at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Lunch Program at the First United Methodist Church.
Don was born on June 21, 1947 in Geneva the son of the late Donald C. “Bucky” and Virginia Cook Jones. He graduated from Geneva High School class of 1966 and then served in the US Air Force from 1966 to 1970. Don belonged to the Laborers International Union and also retired from the Seneca Army Depot in 1993. He was a member of the Winnek post 396 American Legion Geneva, St. Stephen’s Church, life member of the Nester Hose Company of the Geneva Fire Department and formerly the Knights of Columbus Council 272 Geneva.
Don is survived by a son, Stephen (Christina) Jones of Waterloo; a daughter Christine (Ethan) Todd of Mooresville, NC; 3 grandsons, Nicholas Jones, Nathan and Gavin Todd; sister, Donna Volker of Geneva; former wife and friend, Patricia Corcoran Jones of Geneva; significant other, Joanie Phillips of Pickens, SC; uncle, Donald Cook ; nieces and cousins.
