Obituary for Phyllis E. McNeil (Coluzzi)

PENN YAN/GENEVA- Phyllis E. McNeil (nee Coluzzi) passed away on Sunday December 23, 2018 in her Penn Yan home at the age of 89 surrounded by loving friends and family.

A memorial service will take place on Friday (Jan. 4) at 10:00 am at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High Street Geneva. The Rev. Thomas P. Mull will officiate. Entombment will be in St. St. Marys’ Cemetery Mausoleum.

Phyllis was born in Geneva, NY September 2, 1929 the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Cocola Coluzzi. She grew up in Geneva and married Louis McNeil of Bellona on 3/23/1947. They raised their three children in Camillus, NY, and Babylon, Long Island before returning to the Seneca Lake area.

She worked as a secretary for a short time when her family was young. Later in life she became interested in collectibles of all kinds, regularly attending estate sales, home sales, and auctions. For a time she sold many of her finds on eBay or at auction. She was known for her kindness, generosity, humor, and wit, endearing her to many.

She is survived by her children Louis Jr of Babylon, NY, Deborah Walsh of Sebastian, Fl. and Stephen of Newark, NY. She also leaves 10 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her dear husband Louis in 1994, her brother Vincent (Jim), and sisters Carmello (Millie), Kathryn, and Joyce. and her loving companion Homer Fritz.
