Obituary for Thomas Michael Hickey

GENEVA- Thomas Michael Hickey died on Sunday August 5, 2018 in Tempe, Arizona.

The family will receive friends on Saturday (Sept. 8) at 9:00 a.m. at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church 48 Pulteney St. Geneva. Burial following the mass will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Born in Geneva, NY, Tom was the son of Charles Hickey and Nan Quigley Hickey. Tom graduated from De Sales High School in 1960 and received a degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY in 1967. Tom served in the US Navy from 1967-1971 and was commended for his meritorious service in the combat zone in Vietnam. In the early 1970’s Tom moved to Phoenix Arizona to eventually begin a career with Durham and Richards.

During his career he was an integral part of many development projects throughout the Phoenix area including Pebble Creek and Robson Ranch. Tom devoted a lot of his free time to playing golf and betting the horses.

Tom is survived by three brothers. Charlie Hickey (wife Janice and sons Michael and Colin), John Hickey (wife Kathy) and Jim Hickey.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Robert Hickey.

Tom will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, generosity and care for others.
