GENEVA/VENICE, FL.; Gary J. Parmelee, age 72 of Venice, Florida and formally of Geneva passed away on Friday November 18, 2016 in Venice, FL.

Funeral services will be held in the spring at a date and time to be announced.


In lieu of flowers kindly make a memorial donation to The Salvation Army, Sarasota, FL. or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.

Gary was born on February 26, 1944 in Geneva, the son of the late Franklin C. and Margaret Carney Parmelee. He was a graduate of DeSales High School. Gary served proudly in the National Guard & Army Reserve and retired after 20 years as a Police Officer for the City of Geneva Police Department. While at the Police Department he served 3 years as PBA President and was nicknamed Honcho.

Gary was a member of St. Francis Church while in Geneva, a Papier Tole Artist, Dallas Cowboys Fan and loved his plants, old western TV shows & Cops.

Gary is survived by his wife; Ellen of Venice, FL. sons; Gary J. (Diana) Parmelee Jr. of Geneva, Michael S. Parmelee of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Kellee Parmelee of Romulus, Gary Parmelee III of Canandaigua and Rachel Parmelee of Kissimmee, FL.; several nieces and nephews.

Gary was predeceased by sisters, Margaret (Sully) Marino, Judith (Harold) Tapscott; brothers, Clifford Parmelee, Earl (Janet) Parmelee, Francis G. Parmelee.
