LYONS – Luellen M. O’Malley, 88, formerly of Geneva, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Wayne County Nursing Home in Lyons, NY with her loving children by her bedside.

Family and friends may call from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday (Oct.16) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral services will be held on Monday (Oct.17) with prayers at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. in St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish in Geneva, NY.

Luellen was born on June 28, 1928, in Union Furnace, PA, to Milton and Ethel Brindle Gensimore. She graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Altoona, PA, in 1951. During her nursing career, she worked in hospitals in Washington, DC, Cheverly, MD, Maplewood, NJ and Geneva General Hospital. She retired from her nursing career in the year 1990 at Taylor Brown Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, NY, where she had served in the intensive care unit for several years.

She married John E. O’Malley, Jr. of Geneva, in Washington, DC, on June 25, 1955.
Luellen was a Eucharistic minister in St. Stephen’s Church for a number of years, sang in the church choir, and was active in the parish Dove program and in Martha’s ministries.

She is survived by her four daughters, Kathleen (Gerald) Hilyer, of Theresa, NY, Patricia O’Malley, of Norcross, GA, Mary (John) Smith of Henderson, NC, Carol O’Malley of Oswego, NY; a son, John P. (Diane) O’Malley, of Marion, NY; fourteen grand-children, 9 great grand-children; 2 brothers, Ron (Betty) Gensimore, of Altoona, PA, Milton (Darlene) Gensimore, of Alexandria, PA, three sisters, Mary (Donald) Waltz, of Alexandria, PA, Marjorie (George) Carper, of Tyrone, PA, and Gloria (Thomas) McCool, of Petersburg, PA.

She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, John E. O’Malley, Jr., son, James M. O’Malley, her parents and her sisters Georgie Gensimore, Florine Fike, Shirley Mertiff, Gladys Lamey, and brother Guy Genismore
