GENEVA; John R. Simeone, age 82, of Spring St., passed away on Friday July 1, 2016 at home with his family by his side.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (July 5) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St., Geneva. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (July 6) with prayers at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis deSales Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to; Our Lady of Peace Parish, Beverly Animal Shelter or Ontario-Yates Hospice.

John was born on June 24,1934 in Geneva the son of the late Patsy and Alice Esposito Simeone. He Graduated from DeSales High School class of 1952 and began working at Sylvania in Seneca Falls. Next, John opened and was the original owner of Alice’s Kitchen in Geneva with his mother. After selling Alice’s, he worked briefly at the American Can Company, before owning and operating J&B Pizza with his brother-in-law Butch, after which he owned and operated The Dog House for many years.

John was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and a former member of the Sons of Italy. He was a diehard NY Mets fan, fan of Notre Dame Football, Miami Dolphins and huge fan of Frank Sinatra.

He is survived by his wife, Carmie Perry Simeone; daughter, Cindy (David Boone) Simeone of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon) Tallman of Latham and Justin Fryer of Hoboken, NJ; brother, Anthony Simeone of Geneva; sister, Caroline Quillen of Geneva; sister-in-law, Lina Simeone of Geneva; several nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by four brothers, Vincent, Louis, Carmen and Michael.
