Ann (Smead) Hicks

GENEVA-OHIO; Ann (Smead) Hicks, 77 of Elyria, Ohio (formerly of Geneva) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 1, 2016. She was born June 25, 1938 in Geneva to William and Elizabeth (Gallagher) Smead.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (May 23) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery following.

Ann graduated from DeSales High School and worked at Shuron Optical in Geneva for a number of years before getting married and moving away. She was employed at Elyria Memorial Hospital, as a ward secretary from 1968 until she retired in 2001.

She is survived by her children, Colleen Masters of Lorain, Ohio, Dion Hicks and Stephen Hicks both of Elyria, Ohio; her grandchildren, Douglas Hicks, Jordan Hicks, Stephen Hicks, Anna Hicks Edgell, Ashlee Brennan and Colin Brennan; her great-grandson Jackson Miller.
Her siblings are Elizabeth (Betty) De Witt, John (Maureen) Smead, Florentia Bennett, and Mary Kay (Michael) Bolan, all of Geneva.

Ann was predeceased by her parents and brothers Thomas and William.
