Gerald “Jerry” Nellis

Geneva/Baltimore – Gerald “Jerry” Nellis, age 82 formerly of Newark passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 5, 2016 in Baltimore.

There will be no prior calling hours. Services and burial with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family in Arlington National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Jerry was born on July 6, 1933 in Newark the son of the late Harold J. and Doris Brock Nellis. He graduated from Newark High School in 1951 and from R.I.T. in 1957. Jerry served in the US Army during the Korean War. He received many medals including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Jerry moved to Baltimore in 1959 and worked as a printer running his own business and was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. He was a Baltimore Orioles fan, enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading, crosswords, singing karaoke and spending time with his family.

He is survived by 4 daughters, Anne (Cliff) Caouette, Brenda (Brian) King, Sandra Lynn (Matt) and Mary Kay (Steven) Lathey; 7 grandchildren, Melanie (Chris), Melissa, Ryan, Alex, Garrett, Brendan and Kaylyn; 1 great-granddaughter, Liliana; brother, Donald Nellis; sisters, Barbara Brennessel, Sharon (Stephen) Biletzky, Cathy (Dale) Bassage and Carol Soucie; several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents and grandson, Jeremy Lathey.
