Harold “Hal” F. Champlin

Geneva; Harold “Hal” F. Champlin, age 84 of Geneva passed away on Tuesday December 22, 2015 at Geneva General Hospital.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday (Dec.28) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral services will follow calling hours at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VA Medical Center Veterans Affairs 400 Fort Hill Ave. Canandaigua, NY 14424.

Hal was born on August 7, 1931 in Jerusalem, NY, the son of the late Edmund and Eleanor Hobart Champlin. He graduated from the Penn Yan Academy and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Hal owned and operated Sampson Glass Company in Geneva and went on to drive buses for Geneva City School District. Hal was known for his friendly, charming disposition and his jovial laugh. He enjoyed walking and remained active throughout his life. He was a former member of the Lyons Club and the Moose Club.

He is survived by his children, Richard Champlin of Daytona, FL, Mark (Dorothy) Champlin of Geneva, Amy (Andy) Russell of Lodi and Cathy Champlin of Ithaca; five grandchildren, Aubrey, Ryan, Chandra, Dylan and Ava; three great-grandchildren, Kody, Anna and Marissa; sisters, Polly Christensen of Phelps, Donna (Stu) Ellis and Carol (Bill) Scism of Dundee; special friend, Judy Hayes & Lexy of Seneca Falls; several nieces and nephews.

Hal was predeceased by Patricia Mann Champlin the mother of his children and his four brothers, Ralph, Roger, Jerry and Ray Champlin.
