Seneca Castle/Geneva; David R. Gulvin, age 92 passed away on Thursday January 8, 2015 at home after several years with a battle with cancer.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 12) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. A graveside service and burial will be held in Whitney Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Flowers are gratefully declined; memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario-Yates Hospice, Seneca Castle Fire Department or Seneca Castle Methodist Church.

David was born on May 18, 1922 in Canandaigua the son of the late Hobart and Neva Reed Gulvin. He served in the US Army Air Force as a 1st Lt. in the European Theater during WWII. David then graduated from R.I.T with an Engineering Degree and owned and operated Castle Engineering until a few years ago. David also served as the Assistant Post Master in Seneca Castle Post Office until the age of 90.

David helped form the Seneca Castle Fire Department in 1949 and was an active member for 64 years and had served as Treasurer and Assistant Chief. He was a life member of the Seneca Castle Methodist Church and served as Treasurer for many years.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was well known for his willingness to always help others.

He is survived by a son, Steve (Mary) Gulvin of Churchville; a daughter, Susan (Terry) Roberts of Geneva; grandchildren, David (Nichole) Roberts, Jennifer (Nick Allen) Roberts, Jamie (Todd) Wainwright, Michael (Katline Berardini) Gulvin; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Eric Roberts, Kaydence Gulvin, Jake and Jeffrey Wainwright; brothers, Nelson (Jane) Gulvin of Phelps, Philip (Linda) Gulvin of Seneca Castle;
David was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 1998 and by a brother Glenn Gulvin.
