Geneva; Floyd Abraham Norman, 87, of Lyceum Heights, who painted and appreciated art his entire life, passed away peacefully Monday August 5, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.

At the request of Mr. Norman, there will be no prior calling hours. Funeral services will be held on Friday (Aug.9) at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, Genesee St. Geneva. The Rev. Gregory Murphy will be officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Norman was born in his home on Tillman St. on March 28, 1926, the son of the late Michael and Hazel George Abraham. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1944 and immediately joined the Army Air Force, serving from 1944 to 1946 in World War II. He was a ball turret gunner on a B-24 bomber. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he entered Syracuse University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1952. He spent time in New York City and traveled to Curacao, Curasol Island and the Dutch West Indies in the Caribbean. Mr. Norman then returned to the United States, first in Rochester and later in Geneva where he remained in the Finger Lakes for the rest of his life. He owned and operated the Gallery II Beauty Shop on Washington St. All the while, Mr. Norman continued his love affair with painting, drawing and viewing art. His love of art & music defined who he was as a person. He was seldom seen without at least a sketch book in his hands. He made many visits to art galleries with his close friends, Nancy and Charlie Bauder of Geneva. He was an avid Syracuse, Mets and horse racing fan and was an active member of St. Michael’s Church and was loved by all.

He is survived by his brother, Daniel (Marion) Norman of Wilkes Barre, PA; his nieces, Linda (Phil) Beckley of Geneva, Gail (Terry) Wood of Endicott, Hazel (James) Bruno of Geneva and Joanne ( Bill) McKensie of Mays Landing, NJ; nephew William (Kay) Abraham of Miami, FL; great nieces, Meredith Beckley, Katie (Bob) Principio, Maria Bruno and Stephanie McKensie; great- nephews, Jayson Post, Anthony Bruno, Michael Abraham and Jeffrey Abraham; great-great nieces and nephews; Zack Post, Addie Principio, Alex Abraham, Aimee Abraham and Charlotte Abraham.

Mr. Norman was predeceased besides his parents, his brothers; Joseph and Anthony Abraham.
