Joanne M. Venturino

Geneva; Joanne M. Venturino, 78 of West Lake Road passed away on Wednesday July 3, 2013 at home surrounded by her family.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday (July 7) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral services will be held on Monday (July 8) at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home and 9:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Ontario-Yates Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Joanne was born on December 18, 1934 in Geneva the daughter of the late Harry and Mary Jennings Moran, Sr. Joanne worked for New York Telephone for many years as an Operator and then a Switch Service Technician. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church, The Mother’s Club, DeSales Boosters, Winnek Post American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer with Ontario-Yates Hospice.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; children, George VanDeMortel, Jr. of Geneva, Paul (Julie Furano) VanDeMortel of Geneva, Scott (Migdalia) VanDeMortel of Massachusetts and Mary (James, Jr.) McGuigan of Clifton Springs; step-children, Kathy Walter of Baldwinsville, Mike Venturino, Jr. of Geneseo, Steve Venturino of Dresden and Bob Venturino of Auburn; grandchildren, Jon and Sara VanDeMortel, Jake VanDeMortel, Rachael and Collin McGuigan, Claire (Wes) Lawson, 1st.Lt. Mark Venturino, Chris Venturino, Anthony, John, Mariah, Hannah and Eliza Venturino; great granddaughter, Morgan; sisters, Kathryn (Ed) Samuell and Mary Jane (Gene) Donahue.

Joanne was predeceased by her first husband, George VanDeMortel, Sr., brothers, Tom Moran and Harry Moran, Jr.
