Obituary for Corey Matthew Dykes

Corey Matthew  Dykes
GENEVA- Corey Matthew Dykes, age 33, of Geneva passed away unexpectedly on Monday August 20, 2018 at Geneva General Hospital.

Family and friends may call on Sunday (Aug. 26) from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral services will be held on Monday (Aug. 27) at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. W. James Gerling will officiate. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family for a scholarship fund in Corey’s name.

Corey was born on September 7, 1984 in Geneva to son of Barry Dykes and Kay M. Jennings. He graduated from Geneva High School and the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.
He worked in the restaurant business as a bartender for many years in Virginia Beach, New York City and throughout the Geneva area. Corey then started his communication career with Finger Lakes Radio Group in Geneva and then Community Broadcasting in Ogdensburg. He returned to Geneva and was currently Vice President of FLX Digital at Finger Lakes Radio Group.
Corey was an avid Washington Redskins and the New York Yankees fan. He loved bowling, golf, baseball and having a good time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Kay M. Jennings of Geneva; father, Barry (Susan) Dykes of North Carolina; sisters, Jessica M. Gayhart, Jenna M. Gayhart and their father, Kenneth Gayhart, Jr. all of Geneva, Hanna Dykes and Amanda Vandeventer both of North Carolina; grandfathers, Allan W. Jennings of Romulus and Robert Christensen of Romulus; nephew, Emry Gayhart of Geneva; aunts & uncles, Karen Jennings-Dix of Ovid, Robert (Doris) Jennings of Interlaken, Edward (Sheryl) Jennings of Raleigh, NC, Donald Smith of Waterloo, Douglas (Rebecca) Christensen of Dewitt, MI, Emma Galligan of Waterloo, Paula Wikstrom of Nevada, IA and Mitzi (David) Harrier of Seneca Falls; several cousins and a host of friends.

Corey was predeceased by grandmothers, Alberta L. Jennings and Leona Christensen; grandfather, Richard Dykes; aunts, Mary L. Jennings and Karen (Dykes) Moyer; uncle, Brian Dykes.
