Geneva – Marie Scutt, age 93 of Geneva passed away on Monday May 2, 2016 in the comfort of her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday (May 7) at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Geneva. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 11:30 a.m. in the Narthex of the Church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Marie has requested memorial contributions to the Geneva Free Library for the purchase of large print books or a charity of your choice.

Marie was born on January 1, 1923 in Geneva, the daughter of the late James and Anna (Groden) McDonald. She was a graduate of both St. Francis School and DeSales High School. She worked at the Geneva Market Basket, Acme market and over 40 years at Madia’s Big M. She was a life member of Our Lady of Peace Parish.

Marie is survived by her children, William (Barbara) Scutt, Nancy (Jim) Vogt, Freddi (Sam Smock) Scutt and Jim (Lisa) Scutt; grandchildren, Bill, Tom, Brenda, Stephanie, Mike (Meg), Chelsea (Jon) and Krista; great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Nicole Scutt, Mckenzie Scutt, and J.J. Millis; sister-in-law, Doris McDonald; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1993; brothers, Bill (Louise), James, John and Mike McDonald; sister, Winnie McCarthy (Bob); sister-in-law, Helen Smith (Russ).

The family would like to thank all Marie’s caregivers over the last three years for their compassion, kindness and care of our mother.
