Geneva; Robert J, Smith age 89 of Geneva passed away on Tuesday December 1, 2015 at Geneva General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

There will be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday (Dec.4) at 12:30 p.m. in St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. Burial with Military Honors will be in Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish 130 Exchange St. Geneva, NY 14456.

Robert was born on April 9, 1926 in Newark the son of the late Stephen P. and Emma J. Hibbard Smith. He attended Perkins Elementary in Newark; St. Stephen’s School & DeSales High School in Geneva and had taken several Management Courses. Robert served in the National Guard and then in the US Navy during WWII in Panama as a Radio Operator. He retired after 40 years from Goulds Pumps, Inc. in 1987.

Robert was a Member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Winnek post 396 American legion, Life Member of the VFW, Life Member of Sampson Navy Salts, Life Member US Navy Memorial and Eagle Scout. He was a Licensed Private Pilot and a Licensed Ham Radio Operator. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, country music, camping, gardening, calling square dancing, wood working, go carts and repairing stuff.

Robert is survived by his children, Yvonne (John) Parrott of Geneva, Robert J.(Gaile) Smith, Jr. of Honeoye; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Konrad, Lissa (YuDuk) So, David (Gina) Parrott, Scott Parrott, Matthew Parrott and John Parrott, III, Kristen (Alex) Stafford and Rachel (Ben) Gleason; 11 great-grandchildren, James, Matthew, Ethan Konrad, Annika and David Safford, Jack and Lila Parrott, Joshua and Matthew Gleason, Emma and Mila So; several nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 64 years, Beverly Smith.
