Edward John Roder

Mr. Edward John Roder, age 82, of Clayton, NC, formerly of North Rose, NY, died on Friday March 20, 2015 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Smithfield, NC.

Born in Watertown, NY on June 2, 1932, Mr. Roder was the son of the late Edward John Roder and Mildred Mary Murphy Roder.
He is predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Florence Touhey Roder “Peggy”.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a graduate of St. John Fisher College, Rochester, NY and Boston College Law School, Boston, MA.

Mr. Roder practiced family law and dedicated himself to his family and his faith. He enjoyed sailing, woodworking, writing and was an avid historian.

He is survived by his 8 children, Theresa Pond and husband, Hunter, of Atlanta, GA; James Roder of Cincinnati, OH; Anne Hitchell of Charlotte, NC;
Timothy Roder and wife, Lisa, of Dumfries, VA; John Roder of Massena, NY; Allyson Young and husband, David, of Clayton, NC; Heather Condon and husband, Aaron, of Charlotte, NC; Christina Logue and husband, David, of Bethany, CT; brother, Donald J. Roder and wife, Marcia of North Rose, NY; sister, Marjorie Gallo of Webster, NY;
20 grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at St. Ann’s Catholic
Church in Clayton, NC. The interment will be held privately at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Geneva, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your local Catholic Charities.
