Matthew MichaelJon Foe, 40, of Geneva, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on January 7, 2012. Although he battled brain cancer for over eight years, his positive attitude along with the support from his, family and friends, all helped him persevere through this disease. Through this time, Matt never gave up.

Family and friends may call and share stories and laughs on Tuesday, January 10th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St., Geneva. The memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 11th at 11am, with interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Geneva.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Matt Foe Family Fund. Donations can be mailed to 887 County Rd 4, Geneva, New York 14456.

Matthew was born on September 9, 1971 in Utica, New York. As a young child, Matthew aspired to being a fire fighter when he grew up. When he turned 18 he joined North Side Volunteer Fire Company and worked his way up the ranks to Lieutenant and then Captain. Later in his career, he transferred to the White Springs Volunteer Fire Association and served 15 years. He was highly respected by his fellow fire fighters and holds the Assistant Chief and Vice President positions at White Springs. Since being diagnosed with cancer, Matthew has been an advocate for fire fighter benefits. Matthew has been working with Senator Nozzolio, Assemblyman Kolb, and the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) to improve the law that protects volunteer fire fighters in cases where cancer is involved.

Matthew is survived by his wife Samantha(Weber), his children Zachary and Austin Foe and Izabelle Campbell, his parents, Sandra and Andrew Minister, his sister Pamela (Joseph) Venuti, brother Garrett (Jennifer) Foe, nieces Lauren and Cecilia Foe, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, In-laws Harold and Mary(Palermo)Weber, and his faithful four legged companions: Zsa Zsa, Sabian and Moe.
